Handmade Soap
So much to love!
Obviously I love it, but you may ask. . . why is handmade soap so great? Here are a few reasons why I think handmade soap is the best.
#1 It's actually soap!
Handmade soap is actually real soap! It is made through a chemical reaction called saponification between sodium hydroxide and oils/fats. In most handmade soaps there are left over oils (called superfat) that remain in the soap to nurture your skin! Many commercial skin cleansers are not actually soap, they are detergents that can be harsh to the skin. Handmade soap is milder and keeps the skin healthier.

#2 Natural Glycerin
#2 Handmade soap contains natural glycerin that stays on your skin and helps keep your skin moisturized. Most commercial soaps remove the glycerin so that it can be used in other products like lotions. This leaves the bar of commercial soap drying to the skin. Which in turn makes you need that commercial lotion because the commercial soap stripped your skin of its natural oils. Seems like a great way to get consumers to buy more products, but not a great way to make soap!
#3 Better Ingredients
Handmade soap is made with better ingredients. Does anyone even know what methylisothiazolinone is and why it is still in countless products when it is known to be damaging to people? Commercial soaps are mass produced and often profit margins cause companies to use the cheapest ingredients and these are often synthetic substitutes for the real thing. Many believe that the endocrine, reproductive, respiratory, and immune systems can be damaged by synthetic ingredients in commercial soaps like Sulfates, Triclosan, and Parabens.
Handmade soap is made with butters and oils derived from sources like coconut oil, mango butter, jojoba, and olive oil. These are believed to be very healthy and nourishing to your skin. Handmade soaps use additives that nourish the skin, like herbs, clays, milks, and salts. They also use scents that are sourced from nature, like essential oils.

#4 Made with Care
Handmade soaps are made with care in small batches with unique artisanal designs, colors, and scents that are thoughtfully put together. Handmade soaps are made with care and are often unique to each maker. Handmade soaps are typically tested by the maker (which means they not only test PH, but also use their own soaps and trust that soap to be used for their own family and friends). You are not going to find animal testing and unfair labor conditions with a handmade soap maker. At least not this one!
